This paper presents the geotechnical engineering properties of steel slag generated from Electrical-Arc-Furnaces (EAF) and its potential usage in subgrade layer of roads is assessed as well. Samples of soil and EAF slag were characterized through a series of laboratory tests, including: sand equivalent value, Los Angeles abrasion, soundness of aggregates using sodium sulphate, specific gravity, compaction, maximum and minimum density, large-scale direct shear, CBR and swelling tests. Various mixtures of EAF steel slag and fly ash, 2, 7, 12 and 20% (by weight), as alternative for lime, were also investigated. CBR and unconfined compression tests were performed after various curing times to evaluate the strength gain characteristics of the mixtures. Long-term swelling tests were also performed on the soil, EAF and mixture of EAF slag with fly ash samples. The values of CBR and internal friction angle of slag are higher than that of the natural soil, but the swelling potential of natural soil is higher than that of the slag. Moreover, the slag has the permissible limit according to the Iranian highway asphalt paving (Code 234) for PI, LL, sand value, Los Angeles abrasion and soundness. About 50% decrease in strength is observed for saturated sample compared to dry ones. The results indicate that the EAF slag had better engineering properties compared to the soil and the mixtures of EAF slag with different percentages of fly ash.}, keywords = {steel slag,Electrical-Arc-Furnaces (EAF),Fly ash,Subgrade Layer}, title_fa = {استفاده از سرباره فولاد مخلوط با خاکستر جهت تثبیت لایه زیراساس جاده}, abstract_fa = {استفاده از سرباره‌های فولادی در پروژه‌های عمرانی همانند پروژه‌های پایدارسازی لایه‌های راه به علت به‌کارگیری حجم زیادی از این مصالح سودمند است. در این مقاله خصوصیات مهندسی سرباره فولاد کوره قوس الکتریک (EAF) و امکان‌سنجی استفاده از آن، به عنوان لایه زیراساس راه بررسی می‌شود. به منظور شناخت ویژگی‌های رفتاری نمونه‌های آزمایشی خاک و سرباره، برنامه مدون آزمایشی، شامل: آزمایش ارزش ماسه‌ای، سایش لوس‌آنجلس، CBR و درصد افت وزنی با سولفات سدیم، وزن مخصوص ویژه، دانسیته حداقل و حداکثر، برش مستقیم بزرگ مقیاس، مقاومت فشاری و تورم در نظر گرفته شد. همچنین، اثر افزودن 2، 7، 12 و 20 درصد خاکستر بادی به سرباره فولادی به عنوان جایگزین آهک مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. در ضمن، بررسی اثر زمان‌های عمل‌آوری با انجام دادن آزمایش‌های CBR، مقاومت فشاری و اندازه‌گیری تورم به منظور شناخت ویژگی‌های مقاومتی نمونه‌های خاک، سرباره فولاد و مخلوط با درصدهای مختلف خاکستر بادی، انجام گرفته است. مقادیر CBR و زاویه اصطکاک داخلی سرباره بیشتر از خاک طبیعی و پتانسیل تورمی کمتر از خاک طبیعی است. همچنین، سرباره تنها حدود مجاز مشخصات تعیین شده برای مصالح زیراساس طبق نشریه 234 را از نظر نشانه خمیری، حدروانی، ارزش ماسه‌ای، درصد سایش و درصد افت وزنی با سولفات سدیم داراست. مقاومت نمونه‌های اشباع افت 50 درصدی را نسبت به نمونه‌های خشک نشان می‌دهد. بررسی و تحلیل نتایج، برتری خصوصیات مهندسی سرباره خالص نسبت به خاک و نیز، مخلوط سرباره با درصد‌های مختلف خاکستر را تأیید می‌نماید.}, keywords_fa = {سرباره فولادی,EAF,خاکستر بادی,لایه زیراساس}, url = {https://behs.bhrc.ac.ir/article_87685.html}, eprint = {https://behs.bhrc.ac.ir/article_87685_1f9b170ff7753c3b5ffda19dfa71a016.pdf} }
